You Helped Supply Food This Christmas
We were pleased that so many of our friends decided to buy food for the Village of Hope this past Christmas. By the first week of December
Careforce had collected approximately $10,000
so that the leadership could start to purchase the necessary food. We have now collected over $17,000 and will be sending the funds raised over Christmas in early January. This week we received a report from Lydia at the Village detailing what has been purchased for the children so far:
Beans - 60 bags
Rice - 27 bags
Corn - 10 bags
Peas - 20 bags
Wheat Flour - 1 bag
Oil - 400 litres
Tomato Paste - 96 tins
Salt - 4 bags
Peanuts - 20 bags
Thank you to all of those who bought bags of beans, rice or corn, and those of you who gave to the food fund to be used where needed most.

Food Shortage in Burkina Faso
In September, family houses of children who attend the Village of Hope School had been damaged by rains of almost biblical proportions. (263 mm in one 12 hour period according to the UN). But more importantly, crops in the surrounding areas had been destroyed. This led to a shortage of basic food stocks and a doubling of the price of whatever food was still available.Careforce appealed to supporters to donate funds to help purchase necessary food to enable the Village of Hope to feed the more than 400 children during the coming planting and growing season.
These are the costs of the basics food items needed:

Pastor Michel's wife Lydia, who is responsible for purchasing the food, says that right now it is most important to buy beans as this is the primary source of protein for the children and they are likely to disappear from the markets quickly.
