MCF Drought Relief Update
We are pleased to share with you some excerpts from a recent email from Charles Mulli about the changing situation in Kenya! Praise God that rain fell over Christmas and that the drought situation looks significantly improved. Our deepest thanks to all of you to all of you who prayed for rain and gave financially to support drought or the Choir Tour when they visited. We were able to raise more than $20,000! More details from Charles below:
Dear Friends,
For many years, MCF has never had such a great festive season because God crowned it by providing abundance of rain, of which to many people was a special and the best Christmas gift. I have just received a report from home that the Thika River (pictured below in June 2009 just before it dried up completely) which passes through the MCF farm is now full of water once again. The dams that we had constructed over the last few years are almost full with water. The people, old and young alike and animals that were once dying in the wild reserves now have renewed hope as water is available for them and for agricultural development. This is something that we have been hoping and praying for the last 3 years. I want to urge you to rejoice together with us.
The entire Ndalani and Yatta communities as well as our country men just planted some crops. Though there will be a delay in harvesting them as they are still very young and they look forward to a harvest towards the end of January 2010. Please pray that God will give us enough rains to take us for a long period of time which will allow us to have enough food for all in MCF and within the surrounding community.
As it has been our tradition, this Christmas we focused on sharing the love of God with our neighbours and children. We had:
1. A two day special feeding program for over 1,800 children from the
surrounding community
2. Had a one week special feeding program for the 2,010 MCF children
which included special food such as beef, Chapati (special bread), rice, vegetables, fruits, pop, biscuits and sweets.
3. Carried out a food relief exercise targeting 9,000 families each having
approximately 6 members. Each of the 9,000 families received the following;
- 2kgs Maize
- 1 Kgs dry beans
- 2 Kgs Wheat flour
- 1/4 Kg Cooking oil
- ¼ kg tea leaves
- ½ kg Sugar
Happy New Year 2010!!
Yours sincerely,
Ev.Dr.C.M.MULLI

Help MCF Assist 15,000 People
"Kenya's drought and food shortages are expected to last until March 2010, seven months longer than previously projected," said a joint Kenya-United Nations report posted online this week. "As a result of the new assessment, the U.N. food agency is increasing its food aid program in Kenya," said Peter Smerdon, a World Food Program spokesman.
While the UN
food agency is increasing its food aid to Kenya, not everyone receives this help. Many have to rely on the help and assistance provided by others. This is where the Mully Children Family organization comes in. MCF has a large irrigation system set up on its farm. Food from this facility is usually exported to European markets to provide much needed hard currency to run the programmes of MCF. However, the farm has also been impacted badly by the drought putting at risk not only the children who live at the seven MCF sites in Kenya but the workers who run those sites and their families too. The Thika River (pictured left at a critically low level in June 2009) is now completely dry.
Initially, MCF began providing food relief to these families by using their own funds. However, it soon became apparent to Charles Mulli that not only the children and workers of the MCF facilities were being impacted but the surrounding communities as well. Responding to this need and the prompting of his conscience Dr. Mulli expanded the relief programme to include these surrounding communities. Currently, over 15,000 people are dependent to a major extent on the assistance provided by MCF. Please consider making a donation to this critical need a part of your Christmas this year.
