Help Build A School So Carmelo Can Get An Education
Carmelo is 11 years old and lives in Los Alcarrizos in the Dominican Republic.
Read his whole story here.
Carmelo's big dream is to go to school. However, because there is a real shortage of classrooms throughout Los Alcarrizos (an informal settlement), Carmelo has had his application to go to school rejected each of the last 6 years. This year you can change that. You can make a real difference in Carmelo's life.
Careforce and the Lighthouse School are partnering to build 3 satellite schools in Los Alcarrizos for children like Carmelo to get an education. You can donate funds online via the donation page on this website, by phone, or by mail. Here is a list of things required to build the satellite schools that you can purchase:
- $75 - will purchase 5 bags of cement
- $100 - will purchase 2 meters of sand and gravel to make concrete building blocks
- $250 - will purchase 8 sheets of tin for the roof and 5 bags of cement
- $500 will purchase 1 bundle of reinforcing steel
We need $37,000 to build a school. Our goal is to help provide a school for Carmelo to attend by the Fall 2010. Join us and donate now!
